Places to Eat and Drink

There are 6 friendly pubs within walking distance, and all have great local beers, and most serve food. Robin Hoods Bay also has lots of great places to eat including restaurants and takeaways. Some of these are listed below.

Robin Hoods Bay

The Bay Hotel

In the Dock, great for catching the sun with a drink, and watching the world go by, or if the weather isn't so great, sit by a warm fire and watch the sea. Good pub food, welcomes children and dogs. Often busy in high season.

The Laurel

At the bottom of the hill on the left. Tiny pub full of character - no food, but who cares, it has everything else! There is a family room carved out of the rock and dogs are welcome. Great bar staff.

The Victoria Hotel

At the top of the hill overlooking the Bay. Pets and children not catered for. Pub food and a la Carte menu. Great views from the garden.

The Grosvenor Hotel

Opposite the tennis/ bowling club on the Whitby Road. Bar and a la Carte menus. Live music on Tuesday night, quiz Sunday.

The Fylingdales

About 1½ miles out on the Scarborough Road. Large garden with kids play area. Open 7 days, 12 noon till 11.30 pm. Dogs welcome. Sunday quiz nights, live music most weekends.

Up the street to the right of the sweet shop in the Dock. Opening times in shop window. Outdoor seating available.

On Chapel Street. Good quality food in cosmopolitan surroundings. Swell has a gift shop and shows films each week in the summer holidays.

The Old Bakery

Freshly made food to eat in or take away. The cooked breakfast is great value. Scones baked freshly every day. 01947 880709.
The Wayfayrer: At top of hill, on the right above the Victoria Hotel but before the Post Office. Great food. The Sunday Night Steak and Bake night is amazing value, book well in advance as the locals use the Wayfayrer.

Greens

Sea food restaurant and bistro. Great long standing reputation for high standards of cooking. Downstairs has a better atmosphere than upstairs.

The Moon and Sixpence

On waterside on north side of town. Trendy bar. Great place to watch the world go by if you can sit outside or in the window. Cocktails, great coffee and food.

Few doors down from Moon and Sixpence. Similar style but no views. Live piano music in season. Good seafood.

Moutreys

Great for Pizzas, pasta , and anything else really. Real pizza oven, so pizzas are fantastic. Lovely staff and great all round family place to eat. Booking essential, even out of season.

The Beehive

Great food in pub full of character. Local fish and meat fill the menu. Well worth a visit. Leave Whitby on the Middlesborough road and follow the signs for Dunsley Hall Hotel, you will come to The Beehive on your left. When booking, get EVEN better directions from the landlord!

The Star

Award winning GastroPub. Under a thatched roof, this pretty place does amazing food. You can sit either in the pub next to a real fire, or in the dining room. Good beers and lovely food. You can even get a bed for the night if you are too full to move!

The post code is YO62 5JE- finding the place is like a treasure hunt, but well worth the effort!
